Australian Labor Party National Conference resolution

The 44th Australian Labor Party National Conference was held in Sydney on 27-29 April 2007.
The Conference adopted the following resolution today (Sunday):
“Western Sahara.  Labor supports the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and is concerned about human rights abuses in the occupied areas of Western Sahara.

UN Security Council delays vote on W. Sahara

UNITED NATIONS, April 27 (Reuters) - The U.N. Security Council delayed a key vote on Western Sahara as members haggled on Friday over a resolution seeking to kick-start negotiations over the disputed northwest African territory, diplomats said.

New York (United Nations), 20/04/2007 (SPS) The UN Security Council starts on Friday at the seat of the UN in New York, the debate and study of the UN Secretary General’s report on Western Sahara, submitted to the Council on April the 13th, the UN’s press service indicated.
The documents being considered are the Polisario Front proposal, the Moroccan autonomy proposal, and the UN Secretary-General’s report on Western Sahara S/2007/202
